Centrifuge specimen and pour off serum/plasma within 2 hours of collection. Aliquot into brown/amber plastic vial. Indicate serum/plasma on vial. Freeze specimen. Transport frozen on dry ice.

Patient must fast overnight (12-14 hours). Patient must not consume any alcohol or ingest vitamin supplements for 24 hours before the specimen is drawn.
