Collection Limitations
Collect Monday through Friday, 8 A.M. till 3 P.M. only. Do not collect on weekends. This test is ONLY collected at the Jefferson Hwy Campus due to special handling requirements. Call Sendout lab at ext. 62185 prior to blood collection. Specimen must be processed immediately after collection.
This test can also be collected at the Ochsner LSU campus in Shreveport. They got approval from ARUP to collect on ice as they do not have pre-chilled tubes on-site.

2 days, excluding weekends and holidays.
CSR Storage Requirements
Deliver blood to Sendout Lab IMMEDIATELY for processing. Sendout Lab: add 1 ml whole blood to a chilled ARUP Pyruvate collection tube containing 2 ml 8% (W/V) perchloric acid. Mix well for 30 seconds and place in an ice bath for 10 minutes. Centrifuge for 10 minutes at 1500 x g. Decant supernatatant to a plastic vial and freeze.

Patient Preparation
Patient should be fasting and at complete rest. Patient should avoid any exercise of the arm or hand before or during collection.
