Specimen Stability
Serum and Plasma specimens are stable 48 hours Refrigerated at 2-8°C.
Whole Blood must be tested with 24 hours.
Frozen serum/plasma samples can be tested within 3 months of collection.
Instructions for Collection and Transport
Baptist, Baton Rouge, Chabert, Covington, The Grove, Hammond, Iberville, O'Neal, Primary Care, Kenner, Northshore, Rothschild, Pediatrics, River Parishes, St. Anne, St. Charles, St. Bernard, Slidell clinic, Ochsner St. Mary, Westbank, Laplaco, and Hancock: Use EDTA whold blood for testing.
Do not centrifuge.
OMC-Jeff Hwy, Driftwood, Lakeview, Ochsner St. Tammany Cancer Center, Ochsner LSU Shreveport and Ochsner LSU Monroe: Centrifuge specimen and aliquot serum/plasma into plastic vial. Transport refrigerated on freeze packs. Refrigerate if holding overnight. Label aliquot as plasma or serum.
