Instructions for Collection and Transport
Place tube on ice immediately after collection.
For labs that use Vitros instruments (River Parishes Lab), the specimen should be transported immediately on ice to the laboratory. Plasma must be separated from the cells within 15 minutes of specimen collection. After separation from the cells, the plasma is stable for up to 8 hours at 18-25° C, up to 14 days at 2-8° C and up to 1 month at -20° C or lower.

For labs that use Architect/Alinity instruments, internal specimens should be transported on ice to CSR or laboratory within 60 minutes of collection.

Remote Locations: Centrifuge specimen immediately. Aliquot plasma into plastic vial and freeze. Tranport frozen on dry ice. Frozen specimens are stable for 3 days.

Centrifuge immediately. Deliver specimen immediately on ice to Chemistry. If not analyzed within 60 minutes, aliquot plasma into plastic vial. Refrigerate or freeze. Refrigerated and frozen specimens are stable for 3 days.
