Instructions for Collection and Transport

Collect specimen using the Adeza Biomedical Specimen Collection Kit, which may be obtained from SPD or an Adeza Representative. Using the swab provided in the kit, the specimen should be obtained from the posterior fornix of the vagina during a speculum examination. The swab containing the cervicovaginal secretions, should be immersed in the tube of buffer provided with the kit. Break the shaft of the swab off inside the tube and cap tightly. Transport specimens to lab ASAP at room temperature.  If specimen transport is delayed or specimen is held more than 8 hours, refrigerate specimen and transport on freeze packs. Refrigerated specimens are stable for 3 days.
