Instructions for Collection and Transport

Internal specimens:

E-swab – after swab sample is taken, the swab applicator shaft is broken off at the colored breakpoint indication line by bending the shaft on the side of the tube allowing the swab to fall into E-swab transport tube. Discard handle of swab. Replace tube’s screw cap into a funnel shaped molded docking receptacle in cap.

Crush culturette ampule to moisten swab. Transport to Microbiology within one hour of collection. Remote Locations: Crush culturette. Send culturette in cooler with freeze pack.
