Instructions for Collection and Transport

The 2 tube labels described below must be applied lenghtwise. A label may be folded as a "flag" to prevent overlapping so that all information on both labels remains visible. 

  1. Birthing person's admission label with the following additional information: 

a. Cord Blood" stamped or written in red ink. For multiple births follow newborn naming convention (i.e. "Cord Blood Girl A", "Cord Blood Boy B').

b. Date and time of collection

c. Collector's initials

        2. Barcoded lab label with the following newborn's information:

a. Newborn's Name

b. Clinic Number

c. Location

 

Do not centrifuge. Transport at room temperature. Refrigerate if holding overnight.
