Instructions for Collection and Transport
Collect specimen for culture and cell counts in separate tubes if possible. Do not send specimen in syringe. Transport specimen in sterile vial on freeze packs. Refrigerate if holding overnight. Not available for collection by Home Health.

CSR Storage Requirements
Send to the receiving area of Hematology before routing to Chemistry. If tube must be shared with Microbiology or Hematology Labs, do not centrifuge. If share not required, centrifuge and transport to STAT CSR. In CSF samples without cells, Glucose in CSF is stable for 2 days at room temperature and > 1 month refrigerated.
