Patient Instructions/Preparation

In house Hepatitis B core antibody testing is not intended for use in infants ≤28 days old. Samples for patients in this age group will be sent to a reference lab for analysis with an expected TAT of 2-5 days.

For LSU Shreveport and Monroe labs ONLY: Centrifuge specimen. Transport refrigerated on freeze packs. Refrigerate if holding overnight. DO NOT ALIQUOT.


For Ochsner JH and OLGH: Centrifuge and aliquot into labeled aliquot tubes. Transport refrigerated on freeze packs.
