Instructions for Collection and Transport

The stool should be formed/semi-solid. Watery, diarrheal specimens are not acceptable for testing.

Collect 1.5 mL  of semi-solid stool or liquid stool in a screw capped polypropylene container.

Must be received within 72 hours of collection. If testing cannot be completed within 72 hours, freeze the specimen immediately upon receipt at ≤20°C until tested. Transport refrigerated on freeze packs.

Specimens that have been concentrated or collected in 10% formalin, SAF or PVA fixatives are not acceptable.
