Vaginal secretions

	Collection Container	Preferred Volume	Minimum Volume
Preferred	Swab in tube containing 1.0 mL sterile saline	1 swab in saline tube	1 swab in saline tube

Specimen must be transported to laboratory within 30 minutes

Swab must be placed in tube containing 1mL of sterile saline

Identify source of specimen. Internal specimens should be transported to laboratory within 30 minutes of collection.
